President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov called the performance of the national team athletes at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing successful. It is reported by TASS.
He noted that the number of medals won is in line with the expectations of the sports leadership. “The only thing I would like, of course, is for a number of silver medals to become gold next time,” Pozdnyakov said. The head of the ROC noted that this also applies to men’s hockey.
The Russian national hockey team earlier Sunday, February 20, lost to Finland in the final of the Olympics. The Finns won with a score of 2:1 and became the winners of the Games for the first time in history.
Athletes from the Russian team at the 2022 Olympics won 32 medals: six gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze. This is the best result in terms of the number of awards won in the history of both the Russian and Soviet national teams.
