In Mexico, a referee is separated from the Liga MX Femenil for promoting a bookmaker

The Arbitration Commission of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) announced the dismissal from its squad of the flag bearer Valeria Andrade, who violated the FIFA Code of Ethics after promoting a bookmaker.

Through a brief statement, the commission, chaired by Arturo Brizio, reported the dismissal of the Liga MX Femenil referee, who appeared last Monday before the FMF legal department to give her version of events.

“The Referees Commission informs that as of February 18, Valeria Saraí Andrade Lázaro ceases to be part of the whistler squad of the aforementioned Commission,” it reads.

The history

As will be remembered, last weekend, Andrade violated the Code of Ethics imposed by FIFA worldwide by promoting a bookmaker.

In a video uploaded on his account InstagramValeria made a direct invitation to participate in the bets made by the house 1xBet. The Mexican whistler even provided a code in her name to get an extra bonus for new subscribers.

“Hi friends. I want to recommend you a bookmaker 1xBet, the most reliable and with the highest coefficients and guaranteed payouts. New players will be given a bonus of $130 on their first deposit. Sign up and do not miss the opportunity to get rich”, is the message that Valeria gave in the video.

With this video, the flag bearer violated the Code of Ethics imposed by FIFA regarding soccer bets, which dictates the following:

“All officials, referees and football players, as well as intermediaries and match organizers are subject to the FIFA Code of Ethics as follows:

  • They are prohibited from participating in betting, games of chance, lotteries or similar activities and transactions, directly or indirectly, that are related to soccer games or any other activity related to football.
  • They are prohibited from having any type of interest, directly or indirectly (through third parties or with their collaboration), in entities, companies, organizations, etc., that promote, negotiate, organize or direct bets, games of chance , lotteries or similar events or transactions related to football matches or competitions”.

AS Mexico exposed the case of Valeria, who, a few hours after the publication of the note, deleted the video.

However, the Arbitration Commission did not ignore the situation and, after analyzing the case, channeled it to the legal area, due to its seriousness.

Last Monday, the referee went to the FMF headquarters, where she met with representatives of the legal area and presented her version of the events. This Friday, her discharge was announced.

It should be noted that since this case was made known, the account of Instagram Valeria Andrade went from nearly 76,000 followers to 82,000 in just a few days. (D)
