Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov will receive a cash reward for success at the Beijing Olympics. It is reported by “R-Sport”.
The 25-year-old athlete will receive 16.2 million rubles from the Russian government. During the Beijing Olympics, Bolshunov won gold medals in the skiathlon, relay and mass start. He also won a silver medal in the 15 km time trial and a bronze medal in the team sprint. In addition, Bolshunov will receive additional remuneration from the regional authorities and the sports club he represents.
Before the Olympics, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that domestic athletes were entitled to 4 million rubles for the gold of the Games, 2.5 million rubles for silver, and 1.7 million rubles for a bronze medal.
The closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics will be held on February 20.
