The Polish Olympic champion ends his career in the semi-finals. Sad goodbye

this winter, after two years, he will come back to compete in the World Cup and already at the first competition in Tomaszów Mazowiecki he took third place in the mass race. – I did not suppose that I could compete with the best, and as you can see, everything is possible – said the Polish champion hotly.

Brdka’s sad farewell

On Saturday, the Olympic champion from Sochi took part in the joint start race during the Winter Olympics in Beijing. Unfortunately, it was a sad end to his sports career. Brdka did not qualify for the final, with 16 competitors. In the first finals, he took the last, 15th place. The time was 8:17.49. Do not earn points from volatile bonuses. The best in this finals was Norwegian Kristian Ulekleiv.

Artur Janicki took part in the second finals. The Pole took eleventh place and was also not promoted to the finals.

It was already known before the start that for Zbigniew Brdka it would be the last run during the competition of the highest rank in his career. The best Polish skater in history will officially confirm it.

– From Beijing to Beijing – I can write today. History has come full circle because my adventure with the championship started right here in 2004 at the Junior World Short Track Championships and ended in Beijing at the 2022 Olympics.

The 37-year-old has been at the Olympics in China from the very beginning. So far, however, we have not seen it during the competition. He was supposed to take off at 1500 meters, but an injury did not allow him to do so. So there was a struggle to make me fight on the run from the joint start.
