Fans around the world love the worn out representatives of exotic countries. Such athletes must greet a lot to perform at the most important event for an athlete. As a rule, however, they do not have a chance to win a medal. However, their performance alone makes them the lips of fans all over the world.
The last one in training, but they have gone down in history anyway
Jamaicans made a sensation for the first time in 1988 at the Winter Olympics in Calgary. Then they performed for the first time in history in the bobsleigh four. They did not finish the race because they had an accident.
Based on this event, a film was made five years later: “Cool Runnings” (from Polish “Reggae on ice”). Ten years later, at the Winter Olympics in Nagano, the Jamaican four took the penultimate, 21st place.
Now, after a 24-year hiatus, the male four from Jamaica has taken off again. They were starring: Shanwayne Stephens, Ashley Watson, Rolando Reid and Matthew Wekpe. The first one was the pilot.
However, they did not do the best in Friday’s training sessions. In the first place they took the penultimate 19th place, and in the second – the last, 15th place. Even so, they did not hide their joy. They even made a video of beatboxing. In less than two hours, the film had over 700 views.
Jamaicans at this year’s Olympics will surprise you once again. During the giant slalom competition, Benjamin Alexander took part and reached the finish line with the last time, in 54th place. Still, it went down in the history of Jamaican sport.
