The first valid BMX Open Cup was run in its entirety, last Saturday, on the track of the Subway Club, in Quito; while the first test of the BMX National Cup Ecuador 2022 could not be fulfilled due to the heavy rain that fell in the Ecuadorian capital last weekend.
Before the paralysis of the tests, 500 of the best pilots in the country were registered, belonging to ten provinces, who were looking for move to the top of the rankings of the contest.
In the race were representatives of CarchiImbabura, PichinchaTungurahua, ChimborazoCanar, Azuay, GuayasPasta and Morona Santiago; and on the first day, held on Friday, the smallest competed on bicycles without pedals.
In Saturday’s tests, each of the sleeves had a high competitive level.
In the novice category ladies category 6 years, the winner was Matilda Victoria Quishpe, from Pichincha; while in the 8 he triumphed Victoria Bolanos, from Pichincha; in 10, Rebecca Alejandra Altamirano, from Tungurahua; at 11, Arianna Valentina Cabrera, from Imbabura; at 13, Victoria Penafiel, from Pichincha; and at 15, Shirley Villacisfrom Pichincha.
On the other hand, in the test for experts the winners were, in 8 years, Yamilé Condolo, from Pichincha; 9, Ana Laura Uquillas, from Pichincha; 10, Mia Valentina Ochoa, from Canar; 12, Luciana Villacreses, from Pastaza; 14, Kristel Sanchez, from Carchi; 16, Kerly Morales, from Tungurahua; and between 17 and 24 years old, Maria Antonia Alfaro., from Pichincha.
Ochoa, in the 10-year series, prevailed over Antonella Puyowho is the current Pan American champion of the series.
the runner Domenica Azuero, an Olympic athlete from Ecuador, attended as a spectator and highlighted the organization of the event, the state of the track and the technical level of the runners. In the experts’ race, the winners were Massimiliano Graziani, in 8 years; Pablo Mafla, in 9; Francis San Martinat 10; Joaquin Arayat 11; John Manuel Aguirre12; Esteban Mejia13; Pedro Lopez14; Franco Mendizabalfifteen; Bryan Puna16; Alexander Aviles17-24; Francisco Villot25-29.
The event was endorsed by the Ecuadorian Cycling Federation and its president, Santiago Rosero, was together with the competitors on the Quito track.
For Rosero, the organization complies with international regulations and invited the actors of the bicycling and cycling in general to obtain the UCI license (International Cycling Union) with which they can participate in official competitions, be covered by medical insurance and enjoy other benefits.
