“You are drowning in a swamp and you can’t do anything about it,” Kulizhnikov described the failure at the Games with such a phrase. He said that because of the previously transferred coronavirus, he hoped only for a miracle, but it did not happen. The skater said that after the illness he experienced anxiety and panic every time he went out onto the track.
At the Games in Beijing, the Russian performed at a distance of 1000 meters and took 11th place. Kulizhnikov is a three-time world champion in the sprint all-around. He also became the first five times in separate distances.
Earlier, Russian speed skater Olga Fatkulina criticized the atmosphere at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. “I see how sad the young guys are at these Games, they don’t see the holiday. And I’m sad, ”said the athlete. She described the atmosphere at the Olympics with the phrase “it’s the bottom.”
