As many as eight penalty rounds of Hojnisz-Starêgi. Norwegian women on the podium, but no gold

Justine Braisaz-Bouchet did not start the Friday performance well. In the first shooting in the supine position, the French scored two boxes, and in the next one she scored one more. Luckily, Braisaz-Bouchet ran the three penalty laps very efficiently and also performed well on the cross-country track.

When it comes to shooting, the French presented herself much better in a standing position, where she scored only one box in two attempts. This gave her an advantage over two Norwegian women – Tiril Eckhof and Marte Olsbu Roeiseland. The first one took second place, and the third one finished on the lowest step of the podium.

French Olympic biathlon champion

Both Norwegian women started the Friday rivalry without mistake at the shooting range. Both Eckhof and Roeiseland did not make any errors in the supine position. However, in the standing position the Norwegian women missed twice, which made their advantage over Braisaz-Bouchet insignificant.

But Eckhof and Roeiseland have nothing to lament about. They both won another medals at the Olympics in Beijing. For Eckhof it is the third lap after gold in the mixed relay and bronze in the race race. Roeiseland won the fifth medal in Beijing! The 31-year-old became the Olympic champion in sprint, racing and mixed relay and also won the bronze in the individual race.

On Friday, only one Polish woman appeared on the route. Monika Hojnisz-Starêga took only 27th place. Our competitor had to run as many as eight penalty rounds for five mistakes in the shooting range in the supine position and three in the standing position. The Polish woman lost almost 3 minutes and 50 seconds to the winner.
