The coach of the Russian national hockey team Sergei Fedorov spoke about the departure of the United States and Canada from the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“The Canadians didn’t have a very intensive training camp, the Americans got tired. Apparently, the North American teams were tired at the moment, because of which they conceded unnecessary goals and could not find the strength to recoup, ”Fedorov explained the relegation of the teams. He stressed that the Russian team had to restructure the preparation for the tournament, but the players managed to adapt to Beijing conditions.

Teams USA and Canada flew out in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament. The Americans lost to Slovakia in the post-match shootout with a score of 2:3, while the Canadians lost to Sweden with a score of 0:2.

The Russian team in the quarterfinals broke the resistance of the Danish team. Domestic hockey players outplayed rivals with a score of 3:1. In the semi-finals, the team will play with Sweden.

The semi-final match will take place on February 18. The start time of the meeting is 16:10 Moscow time.
