Real Sociedad draws with Leipzig (2-2) and the tie will be decided at Anoeta

Real Sociedad tied with Leipzig (2-2) this Thursday in Germany Europa League round of 32 first leg. Therefore, the tie and classification for the round of 16 will be decided at the Reale Arena next February 24.

The script of the meeting did not change after 1-2. Leipzig dominated again and came close to equalizing in the 66th minute, but Forsberg’s shot was cleared by goalkeeper Ryan. The German team continued to insist, and in the 79th minute, the referee awarded Leipzig a favorable penalty for a foul by Zaldua on Szoboszlai inside the area. The penalty was protested by the Real Sociedad players, but the VAR did not correct the referee’s decision and there was nothing to do. Forsberg made it 2-2 from eleven meters, without giving Ryan options.

Already in the discount, Mathew Ryan prevented Leipzig’s third goal when stopping a point-blank shot from Benedikt Henrichs.
