Valieva was admitted to the individual tournament of the Games by the decision of CAS, where she took fourth place with 224.09 points. She fell twice and made several mistakes, while the athlete was in the lead after the short program.

Earlier, the IOC said that it would not hold an awards ceremony following the results of the women’s individual tournament if Valieva was the winner. Since the 15-year-old figure skater did not make it to the podium, Shcherbakova and Trusova receive their gold and silver awards at an official event in Beijing.
The IOC also postponed the awards ceremony following the results of the Olympic team tournament. The Russian team, which included Valieva, became the winner in this type of program.
