The head of state noted that the winner performed brightly, and also demonstrated high skill and great creative potential. “A worthy reward for your work, perseverance and determination is the title of champion of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games,” the text says.
Putin also wished Shcherbakova new achievements and conveyed kind words to her coaches, mentors and teammates.
On February 17, Shcherbakova won Olympic gold with a total of 255.95 points. In second place was Russian Alexandra Trusova, who scored 251.73 points – she set a historic achievement by jumping five quadruple jumps in a free program. Kamila Valieva, who was the last to compete, fell twice and made several mistakes, scoring 141.93 points. At the same time, she was in the lead after the short program.
