American figure skater Adam Rippon shared his opinion about the doping scandal with Russian woman Kamila Valieva. His words are reported by Rolling Stone.
“This whole situation is unfair and amazing. I don’t think anyone blames Camila for what happened,” Rippon said. He noted that everyone is very angry because of this scandal.
The American said that what upsets him the most is the fact that Valieva is 15 years old. “Athlete at this age will not independently take funds from the heart or sore throat. Adults will give them to her. And this means that there were adults nearby who set her up like that, ”Rippon emphasized. He added that he would not be surprised if it later turned out that Valieva did not even know what she was taking.
Earlier it became known that Valieva passed a positive doping test on December 25, 2021. As part of the Russian national team, she became the winner of the team tournament at the 2022 Olympics. The Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected the appeals of the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Olympic Committee and allowed Valieva to participate in the individual championship of the Games in Beijing.
