Foreign Ministry commented on Taliban execution of Afghan volleyball player

Zamir Kabulov, special envoy of the Russian president for Afghanistan, head of the Second Asia Department of the Foreign Ministry, commented on the information about the execution of a member of the youth national team of Afghanistan Mahajabid Hakimi by representatives of the Taliban (banned in Russia). His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“You know, I also saw this message, and this is your word“ allegedly ”- it is key, and in general, whether it was beheaded, I find it difficult to comment, there are so many stuffing stuff on this topic,” Kabulov said. He emphasized that some of the media work for a given task, not facts, and urged to be more careful with such information.

Information about the execution of Hakimi appeared on the website of the Persian Independent. According to the source, the murder of the girl became known in early October, but the incident was kept secret. Hakimi’s family also remained silent as they received threats. At the same time, on the Facebook page of Hakimi’s brother, the post about the girl’s death is dated August 9, that is, it appeared even before the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan.

In mid-September, there were reports of the Taliban’s intention to ban women in the country from playing sports. According to the militants, training is not a vital necessity. The final decision on the issue has not yet been made.

On August 15, the Taliban announced the establishment of power in Afghanistan. The Taliban took control of the capital, Kabul, without a fight. After that, some Afghan athletes turned to international sports organizations to help them leave the country.
