Liverpool took the lead in the round of 16 of the Champions League. Playing away from home, the team beat Inter Milan 2-0. The goal that opened the scoring came from Brazilian Roberto Firmino, who came off the bench to put the English ahead.

Firmino entered the field on the return of the break and, in the 30th minute of the second half, appeared at the first pole after a corner to head in the opposite corner of the goalkeeper Handanovic and start Liverpool’s victory, enshrined by Salah eight minutes later.

“We played a great game. It’s not easy to beat Inter here in Italy. They have a very strong team, very offensive, and we knew we had to do our best. We’ve taken a big step, but nothing has been decided. We have to play at home with the same seriousness”, said Firmino after the victory.

Now, the Brazilian has scored 19 goals in 48 games for Liverpool in Champions League matches. In total, for the English club, there are 95 goals in 316 matches.

The return match against Inter Milan is scheduled for March 8 at Anfield, England. After the victory in the first leg, Jürgen Klopp’s team can lose by up to a goal difference that will guarantee a spot in the quarterfinals.

Before, however, the team has a commitment for the English Championship. This Saturday, at 12 pm (GMT), Liverpool welcomes Norwich to try to touch the leaders Manchester City. Currently, the team is nine points behind the first place, but has one game less.
