Dramatic findings. He lit an Olympic torch, and years later it was discovered what was happening to him

A considerable discussion before the Olympics was triggered by the decision of China who would light the Olympic torch. Ultimately it was the Uyghurian Dinige’er Yilamujiang and the nordic combined Zhao Jiawen who did it.

Uighur, who lit the Olympic torch in 2008, was sentenced to 14 years in prison

This decision of the Chinese authorities aroused a lot of controversy. they are a group especially persecuted by the Chinese. Hundreds of thousands of them ended up in re-education camps. They are tortured, intimidated and taken away from their sense of belonging –

by exposing the Yilamujiang torch to lighting the Olympic torch, they wanted to show that the Uyghurs are for them equal members of society. However, China has been criticized for this propaganda

The case outraged not only journalists, however. During the qualification for the ski jumping competition, the Turkish jumper decided to make a political demonstration -. The flag of Kökbayraq was found on Turk’s skis – unofficially used to represent the Xinjiang region inhabited by the Uighurs.

Now it is coming to light what happened to another Uighur, who was also put up for the relay during the summer opening ceremonies in 2008, which was responsible for lighting the candle. This is Adil Abdurehim, who at that time was an official of the sports and culture department in one of the districts of the Xinjiang capital – Urumqi.

Radio Free Asia reports that Abdurehim has been serving a 14-year prison sentence for five years for “watching counter-revolutionary films”. To extract information about Abdurehim, journalists used a ruse by giving a false identity during a telephone conversation with a police officer in Urumqi.

Abduweli Ayup, Uighur, who emigrated to Norway some time ago, was reminded of the existence of Adil Abdurehim and documents the arrests in Xinjiang there. Radio Free Asia said Adila was selected for the relay race for the same reason as Dinige’er – to “whitewash Chinese atrocities against the Uighurs.”
