Braga managed to open the scoring after just three minutes, with Vitinha taking advantage of a rebound in the small area. With that, Gil Vicente adopted an aggressive posture and sought to stifle Braga’s efforts. The home team shot on goal on 16 different occasions, but failed to break the goals of Brazilian goalkeeper Matheus.
The two teams adjusted their defensive schemes and the second half was more marked. Gil Vicente tried to equal the result, but Braga’s defense was up to date inspired and held the positive result.
Gil Vicente’s team returns to the field this Sunday, when it visits Marítimo at Estádio dos Barreiros, at 12:30 pm (Brasilia time). Braga will only play next Monday, when they return to the Estádio Municipal de Braga and receive Portimonense. The departure will take place at 4 pm.
