The jumper described the backstage of forced isolation. A dramatic experience in Beijing

For Viktor Polaska, the Olympic Games in Beijing turned out to be a drama. Due to the positive result of the coronavirus test, which he had already received on site, he was unable to appear in both individual competitions during the most important event of the season.

Polasek only appeared in the team competition. All because of isolation after the Covid test

He was released from isolation before the team competition and started for the team, but his squad only finished ninth in the competition and did not even advance to the second round of the competition. In his only jump, Polasek achieved 108 meters and would be the 33rd individually.

After all, Polasek decided to reveal what his life was like in isolation, while other jumpers competed in the most important competitions of the four years. – From half past eight in the morning to eleven o’clock in the evening only television, books and crosswords – he wrote for sport.cz. – I was looking forward to the evening, just to be able to lie down and sleep. My room was about ten square meters. I was stretching on the mat, exercising my abdominal muscles, but the hill showed some deficiencies in my disposition – assessed Polasek.

Polasek: I will never fly to China again

The Czech also describes his mental state as “not adequate”. – There was a lot of irritation in me. I didn’t want my frustration and depressive states to spread to my colleagues, so I limited myself to wishing them good luck before their starts and congratulating them afterwards. I am convinced of one thing: I will never fly to China again – announced Viktor Polasek.

It was the second Olympic Games in his career for the Czech competitor. Before that, the 24-year-old appeared in 2018 – he was 44th twice in individual competitions and tenth in the team competition.
