The skier of the Ukrainian national team Valentina Kaminska has been temporarily suspended from participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing. This was reported on the website of the International Testing Agency (ITA).
The 34-year-old athlete was convicted of violating anti-doping rules. In Kaminskaya’s sample dated February 10, traces of a prohibited drug were found. The results of the study were released on February 15.
Kaminskaya will not be able to participate not only in competitions, but also in training. The Ukrainian side retains the right to appeal the suspension decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). In addition, Kaminskaya may request an autopsy of the B sample.
Earlier, a scandal erupted at the Olympics due to a dubious doping test by Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva: traces of the drug trimetazidine were found in the sample of the athlete. The Russian woman managed to avoid a temporary suspension. CAS sided with the 15-year-old figure skater and allowed her to compete in the Games. The drug does not give advantages in competitions.
The substance could have entered Valieva’s body with a product her grandfather used. A relative of the skater confirmed that he had to take trimetazidine.
