Barcelona announces a friendly with Boca in honor of Maradona

This Monday, Barcelona confirmed the holding of a friendly match against Boca Juniors, on December 14, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The game will serve as a tribute to Argentine idol Diego Maradona, who passed away last year as a result of a cardiopulmonary arrest.

Maradona played for two seasons at Barcelona, from 1982 to 1984, participating in 58 matches. During the period, the Argentine won three titles, the Copa do Rey, the Super Cup in Spain and the extinct Cup of the Spanish League.

At Boca Juniors, Maradona had two spells. First, in the 1981/82 season, when he won the Metropolitan tournament. Afterwards, he spent the last two years of his career at the Xeneize club, between 1995 and 1997.

Barcelona is going through a complicated situation in the Spanish Championship. After the defeat by Real Madrid, the Catalan club is only in ninth place, with 15 points.
