Russian biathletes won silver in the relay at the Beijing Olympics. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
Irina Kazakevich, Kristina Reztsova, Svetlana Mironova and Uliana Nigmatullina were part of the Russian national team. The domestic team was in the lead in the race, however, due to unsuccessful shooting, Mironova, who entered the penalty loop, lost her chances for a gold award.
The Swedish biathletes became the winners. Athletes from Germany won bronze.
On February 15, the Russian men’s biathlon team lost gold in the relay at the Beijing Olympics. The team in the race was represented by a quartet of Karim Khalili, Alexander Loginov, Maxim Tsvetkov and Eduard Latypov. The Russians were in the lead in the race until the last frontier, at which Latypov went for two penalty loops and was thrown back to third place.
The Beijing Olympics will run until February 20. Domestic athletes compete under the auspices of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
