Media: Unexpected calls to the Polish team for a play-off with Russia. There will be returns

On March 24, he will make his debut as a coach. And it will be a very important task right away, because our rival will be the Russians, and the stake in the game will be the promotion to the decisive play-off phase for the promotion to the world championship in Qatar. If the Poles win in Moscow, the Sweden-Czech Republic pair will be the winner in the decisive match.

Although there is still one and a half months to the match, Michniewicz is already working at full capacity. The coach of the Polish national team visits other countries and talks with our team members. Michniewicz was already, inter alia, in Germany, where he talked to Italy, where he met with the entire colony of our players, and England, where he met with Jan Bednarek, Mateusz Klich, Maty Cash and Krystian Bielik.

The surprising vocations of Michniewicz?

The new manager talks not only with experienced players, but also younger ones, whom he led during his work with the team up to 21 years old, however, he informed that, at least for now, there will be no cadre revolution in the Polish national team. Michniewicz is to bet mainly on experienced players and bet on a system with three central defenders, which the players liked during the term of Paulo Sousa.

This does not mean, however, that there will be no surprising vocations. According to the portal, the team will most likely include Michał Pazdan, Marcin Kamiñski and Mateusz Wieteska. For the first one, the hero of Euro 2016, it would be a return to the national team after nearly three years. Pazdan played for the last time in the national team in September 2019, when we lost to Slovenia 0: 2 in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Kamiński was not in the team even longer. The Schalke 04 player last played in the Polish national team in November 2018, when we lost to the Czech Republic 0: 1 in the Nations League. The biggest surprise would be the appointment for Wieteska. The player of Legia Warszawa has not made his debut in the senior team yet, but he is one of Michniewicz’s favorites. The 25-year-old was one of the most important players of the U-21 and Legia team led by the current coach.
