Russian skater explained indecent gesture after defeating the Americans

Russian speed skater Daniil Aldoshkin explained why he showed an obscene gesture after reaching the finals of the team pursuit race at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing with the Russian team. His words are quoted by Match TV.

The 20-year-old athlete said that he only threw his hands up in joy, and apologized to those whom this could offend. “I have the first medal, the first Olympics. I didn’t mean anything like that,” he said.

Aldoshkin showed middle fingers after defeating the Americans. In that race, the skater, together with Sergei Trofimov and Ruslan Zakharov, set an Olympic record. In the decisive race, Russian skaters lost to rivals from Norway and won the silver medals of the 2022 Games.

Aldoshkin is the bronze medalist of the World Cup in the team race and the champion of Russia in the classic all-around. The Beijing Olympics is his debut.
