Gaviria achieves his second victory in Oman and Hirt takes the general

the czech Jan Hirt (Intermarche Wanty Gobert) has been proclaimed the final winner of the 11th edition of the Tour of Oman which has concluded with the triumph of the Colombian sprint Fernando Gaviria in the sixth and last stage disputed between Al Mouj Muscat and Matrah Corniche, of 132.5 km.

Second win for Gaviria, who started and finished the Oman round with two wins, on this occasion winning the speed pulse against the Australian Kaden Groves (Bike Exchange) and the Frenchman Amaury Capiot (Arkea Samsic), while the British Mark Cavendish had to settle for seventh square, perhaps affected by the effects of the fall he suffered the day before.

In a day animated by a breakaway and exciting in the last km due to the preparations for the sprint, the Czech Jan Hirt (Trebic, 31 years old) crossed the finish line with the same time as the winner, 4h.10.16 and as the absolute winner.

In the breakaway of the day, the most combative of the Omani round got back, Peio Goikoetxea (Euskaltel Euskadi), at the forefront alongside Johan Meens (Bingoal), Langellotti (Burgos-BH), the local Al Wahibi (Oman), De Keijzer (Novo Nordisk), Alexandre Vinokurov (Astana) and the Ecuadorian Harold Martin (Astana).

The escape gradually dissolved as the finish line approached, and definitively disappeared 18 from the last line, when the attacks began to surprise the peloton and their own maneuvers in preparation for the sprint.

The Valencian tried it Joan Bou (Euskaltel) next to the Russian Strakhov, but they were reduced by a group that was already flying. The DSM tensed up front, as did the Bike Exchange and the Quick Step with Cavendish in mind. No one dared to move anymore until the final explosion on the finish straight.
