American lawyer Jim Walden believes that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) may be interested in the situation around the doping test of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva at the Beijing Olympics. It is reported by Forbes.
Walden, who helped develop anti-doping laws in the United States, admits that the FBI may be investigating the activities of 15-year-old Valieva’s entourage. “In general, it was precisely for the sake of such cases that the Rodchenkov Act was developed,” Walden emphasized. The lawyer, in particular, represented the interests of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) informant Grigory Rodchenkov.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowed Valieva to participate in the Games. The Russian figure skater will continue to perform at the Olympics and will compete in the individual tournament.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has canceled the awards ceremony for the winners of the team tournament. The Committee will not award medals on the basis of the results of the individual figure skaters’ tournament if Valieva is among the winners.
