Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has spoken out about the controversial doping scandal at the Beijing Olympics. The athlete commented on the situation on the air of Channel One.
The 15-year-old figure skater admitted that the last days have become very difficult for her. “Emotionally, I am very tired,” Valieva emphasized. She added that she was happy to keep the opportunity to participate in the Games. She intends to show the best results.
Earlier, on February 14, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the appeals of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and allowed Valieva to participate in the Olympics. The figure skater will perform in the individual tournament on February 15 and 17. The IOC will refuse to hold the awards ceremony if Valieva is among the winners of the competition.
Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9. In this regard, the IOC has postponed the award ceremony following the results of the team tournament of the Olympics. The Russian team, which included Valieva, became the winner in this type of program.
