Russian journalist Vladimir Pozner shared his opinion on the position of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which will refuse to award the winners of the team tournament at the Olympics due to the dubious doping test of Kamila Valieva. Posner’s words are quoted by Sport-Express.
Posner considered the decision of the IOC to refuse to hold the awards ceremony mediocre. According to the journalist, it hit not only the Russian side, but also the skaters from the United States and China. He expressed the opinion that the committee aimed at depriving the Russian team of the gold medal in order to make American figure skaters Olympic champions. “Complete nonsense,” Posner summed up.
Earlier, on February 14, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) did not satisfy the appeals of the IOC and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which opposed the admission of Valieva to the Games. The 15-year-old figure skater is preparing for a personal tournament. The screenings will take place on February 15 and 17.
Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9. In this regard, the IOC has postponed the award ceremony following the results of the team tournament of the Olympics. The Russian team, which included Valieva, became the winner in this type of program.
