Archpriest Andrey Alekseev, confessor of the Russian Olympic team, said that he had a conversation with figure skater Kamila Valieva. It is reported by “R-Sport”.
The priest noted that he talked with the athlete before the meeting of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), as a result of which Valiyeva was allowed to participate in the Olympic Games. “It was a paternal conversation,” Alekseev noted.
Earlier, on February 14, CAS did not satisfy the appeals of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and allowed Valieva to participate in the Olympics. The athlete will perform on February 15 and 17 in a personal tournament.
The IOC has decided to cancel the awards ceremony if Valieva is among the winners. Until the end of the investigation into the case of Valieva, the awarding of awards to the winners of the team tournament of the Olympics will not take place.
