In the shadow of the Olympic competitions, the Continental Cup competition was held at the weekend in Brotterode, Germany. It is worth adding that it was quite a well-manned competition, because good players went to Germany, who had not been included in the squad for the Olympic Games. So they were, among others: Philipp Aschenwald, Michael Hayboeck, Markus Schiffner, Anze Semenić, Clemens Aigner and Sondre Ringen. Many of these jumpers a few weeks ago were high in the World Cup.
The explosion of form, as it should be described, was scored by the 2001 Jumper on Saturday, he was second, and on Sunday, after jumps on 111 and 108.5 meters, he was 1.3 points ahead of Jakub Wolny. Austrian Clemens Aigner was third.
Kacper Juroszek is definitely recording the best moment in his career. There was talk of an increase in form at the beginning of January, when the team was at the training camp in Planica. Then the athlete started jumping even better. We hear that at the next training camp in Planica (at the end of January) the 20-year-old even flew close to the size of the hill. He also did it in new shoes, which were protested by. When he put on the old ones, he also confirmed the form and most importantly, he translated it into the competition. A week ago he was 8th, 12th and 15th in Iron Mountain, respectively. And now he was even better in Brotterode!
Juroszek’s shot may surprise fans. Goldberger was right
Such good jumps by Juroszek may surprise the fans, but not the experts. It is known for a long time that the jumper has probably the greatest physical potential in our team. And this is confirmed by all studies. We hear that in certain criteria he is even better than Peter yy, who has always been considered a physical phenomenon.
Until now, however, Juroszek had a lot of problems with the flight phase and lost the most in it. This season, however, is a breakthrough. – When I looked at him, I always had this question mark in my head: why is he not winning the competition ?! When we look at him outside the hill, when we look at his physical abilities and the so-called firecracker in his legs, it is obvious that he should jump very far and be one of the best juniors in Poland and in the world – Maciej Kot told us before the season.
When we asked in December about the future of Polish ski jumping, he did not hesitate to mention two names: Paweł Wąska and Kacper Juroszek, who made an electrifying impression on him during the LGP competition in Hinzenbach (where he was 20th).
– It was difficult for me to understand why he did not translate it into the hill. It is known that its main problem is the flight phase itself. I kind of understand him, because I have this problem myself, but I’m glad that it has shifted a bit this year. When there is a small hill, it can jump really well, but when we have a larger hill, the problem is a bit bigger, because the flight phase is longer, more important and has more impact on the result. You can see, however, that something shifted. He still has time, he is a young boy. However, you need to take good care of him because he has talent. This can be seen, for example, in the imitation technique. This is something that needs to be used and if we succeed, we will have a lot of comfort from it – appeals Kot.
Let’s wait patiently for Juroszek
There is a lot of work ahead of Kacper Juroszek to join the competitors who can fight in the World Cup. It seems, however, that winning the thallus of a heavily staffed Continental Cup would allow the Pole to be in the 20th place in the World Cup. Let’s not forget, however, that the Pole’s improvement in form was confirmed on the hills in Iron Mountain (HS 133) and Brotterode (HS 117), i.e. on smaller hills than those in the World Cup. However, if Juroszek also confirms his good performance in a week’s time in the Norwegian Rhine, he should probably be in the team for the competition in Lahti, after all, it is the smallest hill in the World Cup and well known by Juroszek.
