The press secretary of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Mark Adams, announced the readiness of the organization to provide assistance to the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. This is reported by correspondent James Toney in his Twitter.
Adams stressed that the IOC offered psychological support. Earlier it became known that the committee had applied to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) with a request to investigate the actions of Valieva’s entourage. The Agency has already begun this task.
Valieva is preparing to participate in the individual tournament at the Beijing Olympics. The Russian has already received a starting number for performances in the short program.
The IOC and WADA have filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision to lift the temporary suspension of Valieva from participating in the Olympics. Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9.
