The head of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, Dmitry Svishchev, advised the 79-year-old ex-head of WADA Dick Pound to relax in a rocking chair by the sea and think about eternity in response to a proposal to Russia to miss two Olympics. About this on Saturday, February 12, writes the publication “Secret”.
In an interview with the publication, Svishchev noted that Pound has hatred for Russia in his blood. The parliamentarian complained that the ex-head of WADA seemed to deliberately not notice that the case with a positive doping test of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva was isolated and doubtful. According to him, in international competitions, Russia is far from the first place in terms of the number of positive doping tests.
“Pound is in his 80s. Instead of sitting in a rocking chair and looking at the sea, relaxing and thinking no longer about earthly affairs, but about the eternal, he recalls his dislike for Russia. He has always been anti-Russian,” said MP Svishchev.
Earlier, on February 12, the former head of WADA, Dick Pound, said that Russia needed to take a break for one or three Olympics after a doping scandal involving figure skater Kamila Valieva.
Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9. In this regard, the IOC has postponed the award ceremony following the results of the team tournament of the Olympics. The Russian team, which included Valieva, became the winner in this type of program.
On February 11, the International Testing Agency (ITA) officially confirmed that the skater’s December 25 doping test tested positive for the banned trimetazidine.
