Real Madrid overturns 5-decade taboo against Barcelona

In front of more than 86 thousand fans present at the Camp Nou, the Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1, this Sunday, for the 10th round of the Spanish Championship, and complicated the opponent’s life in the competition.

The match became historic. Real Madrid got their fourth straight victory over their opponent, a fact that hadn’t happened for 56 years.

And in the first “El Clásico” with the presence of the public since March 2019 and without Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, what was not lacking was emotion until the end, with the right to two goals in the second-half stoppage.

The team from the Spanish capital got the better of it and is now top of the table, with 20 points, the same score as second-placed Sevilla and third-placed Real Sociedad, who come on the pitch later against Atletico Madrid. All three teams have the same number of wins, draws and losses, with the ranking defined by the number of goals conceded.
