Representatives of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) declined to comment on the reasons for the long investigation of the doping test of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“We cannot comment further on this case as it is under review,” the organization said.

On February 11, it was confirmed that Valieva’s December 25 doping test tested positive for the banned trimetazidine. After that, WADA and the International Olympic Committee filed an appeal with CAS against the decision to lift the temporary suspension from the 2022 Olympic Games of the athlete.
The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) was left puzzled by how much WADA processed Valieva’s doping test. In their opinion, the decision could have been deliberately delayed until the end of the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. In accordance with international standards, the period for loading an A sample is 20 days from the moment the sample was received in the laboratory, and the sample taken on December 25 in St. Petersburg was processed for almost a month.
