Guberniev condemned the position of coaches Valieva

Sports journalist and commentator Dmitry Guberniev condemned the position of the coaches of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, whose doping test gave a positive result. His words are quoted by Championship.com.

In his opinion, the coaching staff of Eteri Tutberidze and representatives of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKR) need to be more open and comment on what is happening. “Everyone should understand the strategy. Silence is bad, ”Guberniev said.

“Hiding your head in the sand is the position of the weak or the guilty,” the commentator described the behavior of Valieva’s coaches with such a phrase. He recalled that the figure skater is 15 years old, and it is the coaches and employees of the federation who should speak for her in public space.

Earlier, Guberniev was surprised that the problematic doping test taken in December became known only during the Beijing Olympics. Why were we waiting? She could be replaced. Who stuffed a 15-year-old girl with this shit? he protested.

On February 11, the International Testing Agency (ITA) officially confirmed that Valieva’s December 25 doping test tested positive for the banned trimetazidine. After that, the International Olympic Committee filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency to lift the temporary suspension from the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing Valieva. Her case must be considered before the start of the individual tournament at the Games.
