West Ham won’t rule out Kurt Zouma after player pays fine for hitting cat

The French player West Ham UnitedKurt Zouma, at the epicenter of a controversy after being filmed beating his cat, is not ruled out for Sunday’s match of the Premier League against Leicester City. The announcement was made by coach David Moyes this Friday.

“Yes, he is available to play against Leicester,” confirmed the manager, who had already drawn criticism for starting the defender as a starter against Watford on Tuesday despite the controversy.

“There are different views and opinions on whether it is available. As a club, we made that decision,” Moyes reaffirmed.

British public opinion remains outraged by images of the 27-year-old kicking his cat, throwing a shoe at it and slapping the animal when it was in the arms of a boy. West Ham condemned Zouma’s behavior and fined 300 thousand euros (R$ 1.7 million).

The Scottish coach also revealed this Friday that the defender will have to attend a course on animal welfare: “I don’t believe the club could have taken more measures or acted more quickly. West Ham imposed a fine on his salary corresponding to the maximum possible. We unanimously denounce these terrible and diabolical acts.”

“We are very disappointed because it says nothing about Kurt’s character. He’s a very good boy. Let’s get help for him, as in the case of a drunk driving offense”, concluded the coach.
