Earlier on February 11, it became known that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had filed an appeal with the CAS against the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency to lift the temporary suspension of Valieva from the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. The reason was the positive result of the athlete on trimetazidine, found in the sample dated December 25. Her case will be considered by a special commission before the start of the individual tournament at the Games.
Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9. In this regard, the IOC has postponed the award ceremony of the Olympic team tournament.
Schellenberg Wittmer has provided legal support to domestic athletes several times. The company successfully challenged in CAS the appeals of 28 Russian athletes who were accused of violating anti-doping rules at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.
