With two goals from Diogo Jota, Liverpool beat Leicester for the Premier League

With two goals from striker Diogo Jota, Liverpool beat Leicester 2-0, this Thursday, in a match valid for the 24th round of the English Championship, at Anfield.

With the victory, the Reds reached the mark of 51 points and follow in the runner-up of the Premier League, behind only City, which has 60. Leicester, in turn, is 12th in the competition, with 26 points.

For the 25th round of the English Championship, Liverpool returns to the field to face Burnley, away from home, on Sunday. On the same day, Leicester host West Ham at King Power Stadium.

Playing at home, Liverpool took advantage of the control of the field and started putting pressure on the opponent.

In the 18th minute of the opening period, Alexander-Arnold shot a dangerous ball with his left foot, but Schmeichel saved it.

Still in the first half, Van Dijk climbed higher than Leicester’s defense and headed in after a corner. The opposing goalkeeper saved the header, but on the rebound Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the home team.

Even with the advantage on the scoreboard, the team led by Jürgen Klopp continued to dominate the match. Before the first half was over, Schmeichel prevented Roberto Firmino from widening.

At the return of the break, the Reds continued to dominate the game, but Schmeichel, on the other hand, continued to avoid goals from the home team.

Just two minutes into the second half, the goalkeeper avoided what would be Diogo Jota’s second goal, by defending another shot from the forward.

Despite the good performance, the Leicester archer was unable to prevent Jota’s second and decisive goal, to enact the result, in the 41st minute of the complementary stage.

In another clash this Thursday, which was also valid for the 24th round of the English Championship, Arsenal beat Wolverhampton, 1-0, with a goal from Brazilian Gabriel Magalhães, playing away from home.
