Rodnina said that she does not consider her words criticism. “I said: if this was doping, then this is a blow to us. We have been laundering endlessly for seven years, and the athletes, and the Olympic Committee, and the country, and all the people, ”she added, noting that what happened was not a provocation against Russia.
Earlier, Rodnina commented to Sport-Express about the news of Valieva’s positive doping test. Then she said that if the information is confirmed, the skater will become a violator of all the laws of Russia. A later edition removed the note.
It was reported on February 9 that the banned drug trimetazidine was found in the sample of a 15-year-old Russian woman. A day later, it became known that Russia would not be deprived of the gold medal in the team competition, and Valiyeva would be allowed to compete in the singles tournament. At the same time, the International Olympic Committee, together with the International Skating Union, has not yet approved the award ceremony for the Olympic team tournament.
