Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) claimed victory in the prologue of 7.1 kilometers that inaugurated the Tour of Provence this Thursday February 10 and became the race leader.
Ganna set a time of 8 minutes and 4 seconds on the route with departure and arrival in Berre-L’Etang, beating his teammate Ethan Hayter by 12 seconds (Ineos Grenadiers) and at 13 to Tobias Ludvigsson (Groupama – FDJ).
Among the favourites, he highlighted Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl), sixth at 17 seconds of the victor. Regarding the French cyclist, the Basque Gorka Izagirre (Movistar) left 13 secondsthe Colombian Nairo Quintana (Arke samsic) 14and the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers) 21.
The defender of the title, the Colombian Iván Ramiro Sosa (Movistar) did not have the best possible start and he left 37 seconds with respect to Alaphilippe.
