Medvedeva supported Valieva and criticized journalists

Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva supported Kamila Valieva in a situation with a dubious doping test and criticized media representatives. The post is available on the athlete’s Instagram account.

Medvedeva turned to the 15-year-old figure skater of the Russian national team, expressing support. However, she stressed that her publication is directed primarily to journalists. Medvedeva accused the media of using clickbait for traffic and providing false information amid the scandal. The athlete urged to follow official sources.

As of February 10, Valieva resumed training. The temporary suspension of the athlete has been lifted, the Russian team has retained the gold of the Olympic team tournament. However, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has the right to challenge this decision.

On February 9, Sport-Express announced the removal of Valieva from the Games. Soon the news was removed from the site, and the publication issued a refutation.

On February 9, the Inside The Games portal reported that the doping test of 15-year-old Valieva was questionable. According to media reports, the test was passed before the start of the Olympics – in December 2021. The sample contained traces of the drug trimetazidine, which is used to prevent angina pectoris.
