“Boniek has already done it”. Kulesza is translated from Michniewicz’s past

Michniewicz was mostly reminded of his contacts from years ago with Ryszard F., pseudonym “Fryzjer”. Michniewicz’s famous 711 connections to “Fryzjer” – a former football activist who was responsible for corruption in Polish football. The case was investigated by the Wrocław prosecutor’s office. In 2009, Michniewicz himself joined her. He never hid that he knew the “Hairdresser” from the times of Amica Wronka, where Ryszard F. was one of the activists, and Michniewicz was a reserve goalkeeper. In the course of his testimony, he admitted that he had talked or tried to talk to “The Barber” 711 times, but never heard any corruption charges.

And now the president of the Polish Football Association Cezary Kulesza, who talked to “”, explains. – We have to approach the issue of Czesław Michniewicz’s past based on facts, and not on guesses, opinions or sympathy – or lack thereof – of the trainer. I rely on facts. In their light, coach Michniewicz is an innocent man, he has never been convicted, he has not even been charged. I have been working in football for a long time and I know that the results of the representation will be of key importance for the evaluation of coach Michniewicz. Period, said Kulesza.

And when asked if he had called the prosecutor’s office in Wrocław to make sure about the selector’s past, he replied that he had not. – It was already done by my predecessor, when he employed coach Michniewicz as the coach of the youth national team. Since then, nothing has changed with regard to this issue, admitted Kulesza.

And he said more about the choice itself. – I had the name Michniewicz in my head from the very beginning, as did several others. In the meantime, there were casual contacts, but the coach has already started to analyze the Russians’ game, which he himself admitted after the nomination. However, the final choice was made last week, a few days before the presentation [ta miała miejsce 31 stycznia]. Then, all the details were agreed and the contract was signed – added Kulesza.

The president of the Polish Football Association signed the contract with Michniewicz by the end of the year, although it is said that this may be terminated earlier. If Poland, which is playing with Russia in the March play-offs – and in the case of a win against the Czech Republic or Sweden – will not be able to advance to the World Cup. – The details of the contract are of course kept secret, but I stick to the date I mentioned at the conference. The contract is signed by the end of 2022, with an extension option on our side. Although, of course, we have several provisions that give room for maneuver, because as the president of the Polish Football Association I have to ensure that the relationship is properly secured – concluded Kulesza.
