Lucas from San Sebastián Eguibar, world champion of the discipline, was seventh – after finishing third in the small final– in the Olympic snowboard boardercross event of the Beijing 2022 Games, which took place this Thursday in Zhangjiakou.
Eguibar, who turned 28 on Wednesday, winner of the 2015 World Cup – a competition in which he has four victories and another ten podiums – and also a double silver medalist at the 2017 Sierra Nevada World Cups, signed in this way his second Olympic diplomaafter the one he achieved eight years ago at the Sochi Games (Russia), where he also finished seventh.
The Gipuzkoan had been second in the round of 16 -behind the German Martin Nörl- and fourth -behind the Austrian Alessandro Hämmerle, triple winner of the Crystal Globe- and had been fourth in the semifinal, which was won by the Canadian Eliot Grondin by in front of Hämmerle.
Eguibar was third in the small final and finished seventh this Thursday in China.
