The coach of the Russian national hockey team responded to rumors about doping among skaters

The head coach of the Russian national hockey team, Alexei Zhamnov, announced that players were tested for doping in order to avoid a scandal at the Olympics. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to the mentor of the national team, the doping test of the athletes was carried out during the training camp in Novogorsk.

“I learned the news about the skaters just before the match. I hope everything turns out positively. Our players were tested (for doping, — approx. “Tapes. RU”) in Novogorsk. It’s probably best to ask the doctor. We try not to have a scandal, ”Zhamnov emphasized, commenting on rumors about doping among Russian skaters.

Earlier, Inside The Games reported that a questionable doping test by Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva was the reason for the postponement of the awards ceremony for the winners of the team figure skating tournament at the Beijing Olympics. The athlete herself became the best in the short and free programs. She also performed a quadruple jump, becoming the first woman in the history of skating to complete this element at the Games.
