This season’s excellent shooting disposition makes the Pole unmatched in the classification. Nevertheless, he still has to bear in mind his rivals, especially Serie A, who are not going to give up in the fight for this distinction.
Schick, Immobile and Vlahović are chasing Lewandowski
In the current Bundesliga season, the captain of the Polish national team played 21 matches, scoring 24 goals. Given that the 33-year-old has not entered the scorer’s list in five league matches, this is an average of 1.5 goals per game. Such a balance means that he has 48 points in the Golden Boot classification.
Three forwards are currently in second place. Bayer Leverkusen, Lazio and Juventus have scored 18 goals. They all have 36 points, but in the overall classification all three played 18, 20 and 22 league matches, making the Czech Republic the highest in the ranking.
Both attackers can be a big threat for Lewandowski in the fight for the Golden Boot. Immobile has already won this award in 2020, while the Serb is enjoying an excellent season, scoring a goal in his league debut for Juventus. Although their loss to Lewandowski amounts to 12 points, they will certainly increase their achievements later in the season – the more so as 38 matches are played in the Italian league (and four less in the Bundesliga), which is very bad news for the Pole.
The next places in the European standings are Karim Benzema (17 goals in 21 games), Erling Haaland (16 goals in 14 games) and Mohamed Salah (16 goals in 20 games). Interestingly, the Norwegian star of Borussia Dortmund together with Lewandowski have the best average goals per game in European leagues. They both score with a frequency of 1.14 goals per game.
