Figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva may replace Kamila Valieva if the latter is suspended from participation in the Beijing Olympics. This became known to “Sport-Express”.
Tuktamysheva is declared in the Russian national team as the first spare. In order for the skater to be added to the main team, the Russian Olympic Committee must conduct the necessary tests. There is a possibility that the Russian side will not have time to complete the procedures stipulated by the regulations.
Earlier, Sport-Express reported that 15-year-old Valiyeva would be suspended from participating in the individual singles tournament due to suspicions of violating anti-doping rules. Valieva became the best in the short and free programs in the team tournament and helped the Russian team win gold in this discipline. According to Sport-Express, the results of the tournament may be cancelled. However, according to media reports, the problematic doping test was taken from Valieva outside the competition period.
