Substance found in Valium doping test named

Trimetazidine was found in the doping test of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, RBC reports citing sources.

According to the publication, there are no narcotic substances in the problematic test, which became known earlier. Trimetazidine is used in the prevention of angina attacks.

Earlier, on February 9, the Inside the Games portal published information that the previously unnamed skater, whose test was recognized as problematic, is 15-year-old Valieva. The material of the publication notes that, since the figure skater is not yet 16 years old, the proceedings on a possible violation of anti-doping rules will be held in a special mode.

In connection with the discovery of a dubious test, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to hold legal consultations with the International Skating Union (ISU) and postponed the award ceremony of the Beijing Olympic team tournament, which the Russians won on February 7.

During the team tournament, 15-year-old Valieva made figure skating history by becoming the first woman to complete a quadruple jump at the Olympics.
