Sports lawyer Artem Patsev assessed the possible consequences for the Russian team due to a suspicious doping test of a figure skater at the Beijing Olympics. It is reported by Championship.com.
According to the expert, automatic deprivation of gold medals and cancellation of results is possible only if a positive doping test is taken directly during the competition. Patsev noted that if we are talking about a different scenario, then it is pointless to discuss possible sanctions: there are a lot of options for the development of events.

The specialist is convinced that Russian athletes simply did not have the opportunity to use doping. He called the situation around the winners of the Olympic figure skating team tournament a circus.
On February 9, Inside the Games reported that the Russian national skater, who competed in the team tournament in Beijing, passed a dubious test before the Games. In this regard, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) held legal consultations with the International Skating Union (ISU) and postponed the award ceremony of the Olympic team tournament, in which the Russians won on February 7.
