Tennis players from thirteen cities participated in the first stage of the XVI Ecuajunior Circuit Tropicmax Cup 2022, which was held at the Salinas Golf & Tennis Club.
Rock Pinargote was proclaimed champion of the unified 11-year-old category, after beating in the final Flavia Rovayo by 6-4, 4-6, (10-7). In the unified 13-year-old category, the champion was Eduardo Gutierrezwho won Daniel Aguero in two sets, 6-3, 6-0. Martin Vallejo took the title in 14+ unified, defeating in the final Gianluca Bacigalupo by 4-6, 6-1, (10-2).
At this stage, six participation scholarships were awarded for the Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Ecuador Program, which is promoted by the Ecuadorian Tennis Federation (FET) in various cities and is aimed at children up to 14 years of age.
“We are happy to start the sixteenth edition of the Ecuajunior Circuit, and we do it in the club that most supports the development of children’s tennis in Ecuador. Its directors are clear that all the new infrastructure and service improvements implemented for each tournament are for the permanent benefit of the members”, highlighted the director of Ecuajunior, Jonhny Saldivias.
In this first stage 107 of the best players from 37 academies participated from Guayaquil, Manta, Cuenca, Portoviejo, Salinas, Samborondón, Babahoyo, Quevedo, Machala, Esmeraldas, Jipijapa, Riobamba and Santo Domingo.
Present at the award ceremony Danilo Carrera Drouet, president of the FET; and it was confirmed that for number 1 and 2 of the ranking At the end there will be scholarships for technical training and physical preparation at Núñez Tennis Training, located in Florida, United States.
