The Russian skier explained the unsuccessful performance in the sprint at the 2022 Olympics

Russian skier Veronika Stepanova explained the unsuccessful performance in the sprint at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. Her words are reported by Match TV.

“I didn’t kiss my boyfriend before the start. That’s the problem,” said the skier. Stepanova noted that the guy accompanies her at the stages of the World Cup, but he could not come to Beijing.

In the second semi-final race, Stepanova took third place. However, this did not allow her to reach the decisive stage of the race. The athlete noted that she had a chance to compete for participation in the final. “The appetite comes during the sprint, and this mistake at the finish line … It’s a pity, but it provoked me,” she emphasized.

Stepanova was the only Russian woman to reach the semi-finals in the sprint. The silver medalist of the Skiathlon Games Natalya Nepryaeva, as well as Yulia Stupak, could not go beyond the quarterfinal races.
