Emelec is taken by surprise by the new provision of the national COE to prohibit public in the Blue Explosion

On behalf of Emelec, Marcelo Alvear spoke on Monday night regarding the latest provision of the national Emergency Operations Committee (COE), which has the objective of revoking the permission of the blue club to hold sporting events with the public in the stadium of his property, George Capwell, which would directly affect the Blue Explosion event, which will take place this Wednesday.

“I found out at the end of the afternoon about that. Tomorrow (this Tuesday) we will be meeting to see what we can achieve. The idea is that, obviously, there will be an audience at the match, an important match with the Millonarios team, from Colombia, which we have invited,” said Alvear.

Alvear clarified that the resolution of the national COE does not affect the entrance to the stadium of members and owners of suites and boxes. “They have entrance without any problem,” he pointed out.

Alvear was approached by journalists and reporters who attended the launch of the official jersey for this season on Monday night at an event that took place at Blu Rooftop, on the roof of one of the Capwell stadium towers.

Alvear responded as president in charge of the blue institution.

The official letter from the national COE indicates that, in view of the fact that “the recommendations set forth in the coordination meeting prior to the Emelec vs. Independiente del Valle”, in the final second leg of the LigaPro Serie A 2021 tournament, played at the Capwell, among other “background”, the control body accepted the recommendation of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) “so that it develop without an audience” the Blue Explosion.

In this sense, the national COE urges the National Risk and Emergency Management Service, “in accordance with the provisions of articles 6 and 7 of the Organic Law on the Prevention and Punishment of Violence in Sports”, to classify the Blue Explosion event “as HIGH Risk, as long as there is no security, prevention and risk management plan that guarantees effective capacity control and biosecurity measures.” This despite the fact that the epidemiological situation of the Guayaquil canton “has improved” with respect to the wave of COVID-19 cases that occurred between last December and January.

Additionally, the National COE requests that the Ministry of Government “order the Guayas Police General Intendancy to, through a reasoned resolution, revoke the permits and authorizations for the development of sporting events with the public at the Capwell stadium, As long as a security, prevention and risk management plan is not presented that guarantees the effective control of capacity and biosecurity measures”.

Club officials assure that the CSE board has completed all the requirements to organize the Blue Explosion and the official friendly match between Emelec and Millonarios with 50% of the capacity of the Capwell stadium. So the resolution reached by the full members of the national COE who participated in a permanent session on Monday is not understood. (D)
